Best events for UK bikers
It’s safe to say it’s somewhat of a biker’s passion to get out on the open road, and what better excuse than to tour around some of the greatest motorcycle shows, conventions, and festivals that the UK has to offer? Here, we’ll break down which events are worth seeing and why.
MCN London Motorcycle Show:
When: 16th to 18th of February 2018
Where: ExCeL London, London
Ticket price: Sold individually per event
Why you should see it: They boast to be “THE show where riders can buy a bike and kit themselves out from head-to-toe all in one day!” and with a promise like that, why miss out? This convention has stalls packed with biking bargains from almost 200 vendors, ranging from big names to niche brands, you’ll find items like this and this. If shopping isn’t what you’re into, they also have a wide selection of events to attend. You might have missed this year’s instalment, but this one may be worth adding to 2019’s calendar.
Isle of Man TT:
When: 26th of May to 8th of June 2018
Where: Douglas, Isle of Man
Ticket price: Prices range from £5 to £1,500 depending on where you want to sit, and how much VIP treatment you need, so this event really is for everyone.
Why you should see it: If Monster Energy and non-stop racing is your thing, this one is not to be missed. Every year, over 45,000 enthusiasts travel to the Isle of Man to witness these races, and this video explains why. Luke Jarema – a yearly attendee – told us “you get to travel over via ferry and enjoy the island which is beautiful. There are street parties, thousands of bikes, and the beach! The let riders take the same roads that the pro’s will later in the weekend. You can buy anything bike related when you’re there too.”
The Manchester Bike Show:
When: 24th to 25th of March 2018
Where: EventCityUK, Manchester
Ticket price: £14.00 for an Advanced Adult Ticket, but they also offer Family Packs and Child prices!
Why you should see it: The organisers want you to “enjoy all the thrills and sounds of the live action bike zone, with thrilling stunt shows, live music and a live stage with a multitude of guest stars”, so you’ll be in for a wild ride with this one. You’ll also get the chance to meet some big names in the industry, as last year’s star guests included Carl Fogarty MBE, and Olympic gold medal winner Jason Kenny CBE. This festival also hosts over 100 trade exhibitors in their retail village to help you look after your bike with everything from treatments to accessories.
Bike4Life Ride Out and Festival
When: Sunday 22nd April 2018
Where: Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Ticket price: £10 for the Festival and Ride Out, or £5 for the Festival Pass
Why you should see it: Bike4Life is a unique bike convention in that it was organised to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance. Aleksandra Mace, a regular attendee of this yearly festival, shared her experience of why it’s a worthwhile event. “Bike4Life is a huge event and it’s so awesome. Every year thousands of bikers ride 23 miles from Shrewsbury to Cosford and the vibe on the day is just incredible. Everyone’s a friendly face and it’s great to see what kind of engines come out of the shadows. At the end of the ride there’s a mini festival held at Cosford Airspace for riders and supporters to grab some great food, listen to good music and enjoy events like stunt shows and guest appearances – last year Carl Fogarty joined us!”
